The municipality of Slovenska Bistrica is one of the largest in Slovenia. In the area of 336 km² are living over 30.000 inhabitants. The biggest town in the municipality is Slovenska Bistrica with 8.000 inhabitants. In the area there are some other villages: Poljčane, Zgornja Polskava, Spodnja Polskava, Pragersko, Makole, Šmartno na Pohorju, Kebelj, Tinje and Laporje.

The Slovenska Bistrica is located near the highway Ljubljana – Maribor. It is easily reached by road, train and airplane.

In the area there are some important industrial undertakers, mostly aluminium, food and wood industry.

In the town of Slovenska Bistrica the new wastewater treatment plant and sewage system are build.
